 |  My family initially contacted GTS Husky Rescue in search of a new dog after losing our 13 year old husky to cancer in August (2015). I was instantly impressed by the huge selection of huskies available for adoption. After a personal welcome call from the organizations founder Natalie Lucia we began to learn more about this wonderful organization who is making a real difference in the lives of hundreds of huskies as well as other dogs. My daughter (14 at the time) asked me if she could somehow volunteer with GTS and although GTS is located nearly 3 hours south of Orlando in Jupiter FL my wife and I felt it was a worthy cause so we submitted volunteer applications to help out at the ranch. Our first visit to Jupiter we were impressed with how well kept the GTS Husky Ranch was. The animals were very clearly extremely well cared for and loved by a team of very dedicated volunteers. A few weeks later we adopted our lovely “Luna” agouti husky from GTS and a few weeks after that we got Luna’s brother “King” (a red husky) from GTS as well. We have continued to make trips down to Jupiter every 2-3 weeks to help out this great organization both at the ranch and at adoption events at the Jupiter PetSmart. We have also fostered 3 other dogs for GTS (Lenny, Bucky & Peggy) while helping to find them “forever” homes. Most recently we adopted a gorgeous black and white 16 week old husky puppy “Loki”. I can’t say enough great things about this rescue, they have saved over 400 dogs in just 2 years since the rescue was started and they put countless hours, money and passion into helping save dogs, rehabilitate them and find them great homes. GTS standards for adopters are much higher than most rescues because they really want to ensure the dogs are going to great homes rather than just whoever is willing to pay the adoption fee.
